How To Win Friends & Influence People is an excellent book if you are trying to learn how to deal with the outside world and people—creatures of emotion and prejudice. People are motivated by pride, ego, and vanity. Everyone you meet thinks of themselves superior to you in some way, and this book teaches you that the socially intelligent thing to do would be to let them realize you recognize their importance. There’s always a reason people act the way they do; this book helps you figure out critical parts to people’s characters. Some of the great things I learned from this book are: How to be less evaluative and judgmental of the things we see and hear. A sympathetic grasp of the other person’s point of view. An increased tendency to always see things from the other person’s point of view. Arguments are obsolete and how to avoid them. People skills, essential human relationships, how to control temper, and therefore become a better listener and leader. How to communicate better and understand people. How to argue and judge less.
